About Shell Malaysia
Shell Malaysia, a subsidiary of Shell plc, is an oil & gas company that has been present in Malaysia since 1891. The company has several production-sharing contracts (PSCs) for oil and gas production offshore Sarawak and Sabah and operates around 970 retail sites in the country.
Your role
The role will generally encompass submitting accurate and timely tax returns, supporting documents, and schedules under the relevant local tax rules, regulations and generally accepted practices, within the deadlines set by the Authority. Pay or effect payment of all tax liabilities on time and in the right amount, as shown on the tax return. Submit accurate and timely tax accounting information following local and Group accounting requirements. Closely engage with other processes to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities upon which tax payments/returns submissions depend.
Interns will gain exposure in:
Prepare and execute accurate and timely tax returns, respective supporting documents required, and tax payments.
Develop professional working relationships with colleagues within the process and in the interface process across Finance Operations.
Ensure the effectiveness of operating controls and report all control incidents.
Update work instructions as and when applicable and at regular intervals as per Work Instructions policy guidelines
Conduct variance analysis, reasonableness checks, and reconciliations.
Collate information for inquiries from external auditors and authorities.
Support change management initiatives and contribute to successful go-live of tax migrations.
Identify and implement opportunities to continuously improve processes.
Comply with Shell Group records management & Information risk management procedures and manage the working papers and supporting documentation related to the tax returns.
Perform Balance Sheet analysis on tax accounts balances and ensure accuracy of balances as per required guidelines.

About you
Shell is looking for students who meet the following requirements:
Internship requirements in Finance/Accounting or equivalent Professional Qualification
Working knowledge of MS Office
Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications/Macro is welcomed.
Results-oriented, fast-paced, resourceful, and proactive.
